What would be world without books?

It is unimaginable to think what our lives would have been without books. For example, how would be transfer knowledge from generation to generation, yes it was done verbally before books but would it be possible to communicate verbally all the knowledge without books.
Today we have so many online bookstore, from our childhood we buy books, read books and grow up with books. With the option to buy books online, books are now much closer to our lives.
But how would have our lives been without the books. Imagine was it possible to discover electricity, fan, computers on which we are typing etc. Was it possible to discover matches, cooking gas, LPG, etc without books.
Was it possible to discover, invent clothes that we wear today without books. Imagine the background time behind the discovery of buttons which we use to zip our shirt!
Every little item which we use today has a history a great history of evolution, they seem very common to us because we are so acclimatized with them.
But trust me all this was not possible without books. Though knowledge would have been shared but the speed of evolution, I feel would have been like, still we must be living in middle ages!
Ha, just penned down some musings, don’t worry, our lives is with books, buy books online and share knowledge.
