Simple ways to help you remember what you read in books

You must have noticed that though you have read a book you tend to forget many things, even some important ones.
Trust, me it’s not only with you but it’s almost same for everyone until and unless you develop and inculcate some best practices of reading books, though with a lot of online bookstores and online books, which repeatedly keep coming to us through internet things are easier to remember. But as per my own experience I would like to share some of best reading practices here:
  • I forget the names of the people, characters etc
It’s a no problem until and unless you remember the nuances, characters’ name is fictional if you forget that he was named Rajesh, you are free to call him Sunil!
But if you want to remember even those. Make sure while you read that you try to imagine the character by its name (not he or she) in the events of the novel or book. For example if a character Sunil is boarding a bus, when you visualize while reading don’t think he boarded bus, try to imagine that Sunil boarded bus. It’s not that simple I know but little practice will make it as natural as riding a bicycle
  • I normally forget the plot
That’s something serious, if you are forgetting the plot means you are not reading with your full concentration. Try to visualize things, while you are reading, if you are not able to visualize please change the book, the book is not able to draw your attention.
  • I never remember important quotes of the books I have read
You come across some very interesting quote on any online bookstore or book review site, make up your mind to buy books online, after reading the quote and as soon as you find out the name of the book which is being quoted, you are shocked to see that you have already read that book! Yes it happens, it happens because while reading you were too engrossed in the plot that you missed those beautiful lines. While you read books treat every chapter, every incident as a separate story. Then you will easily notice these quotes, if found too interesting make note of it.

So now practice these steps, keep aside your worries, go ahead buy books online and read
Happy Reading!
