Tastes may differ from person to person, but today I would like to sum up one of five love stories, of different tones which I really like. May be, this can help you make better judgment when you buy books online.
- Love In Times of Cholera: When we talk about love stories, this book by Gabriel Garcial Marquez definitely makes it place. It has something or the other for everyone. From an ardent lover who waits for nearly a century to propose again, to a chemistry between a husband and a wife. To a philosophical ending. I will not talk much about the content and plot but would definitely suggest you to read it at least once.
- Censuring An Iranian Love Story: This novel published in year 2009 written by Shahriar Mandanipour, is not just a love story but it a picture of contemporary Iran. However I love this book as a love story. Like the previous one, I will not share much details but would narrate one incident from the novel. The protagonist of the story calls up his beloved after a long-long time on a landline phone. But both the hero and heroine dial simultaneously at the same time. They both hear engaged tone, they try again simultaneously, again they hear engaged tone, and they try again and again the same tone. Then author intervenes saying that he is touched with the plight and will show a fault in the Iran’s already problematic telecom sector and make their calls connect even if they dial simultaneously.
- Lust For Life: This book is an biography of painter Vincent Van Gogh by Irwing Stone. It is basically a biography but the narrative depicts the craving for love and the innumerous tales of unrequited love in the life of the painter will certainly touch everyone.
- Snow: This book by Orhan Pamuk is not exactly a love story but I love it as a love story. Among other social, political aspects, it’s the subtle love between the main protagonist poet Ka and his old time beloved that I felt is best part of the book.
- PS I Love You: This book by Cecelia Ahern may sound cheesy for some but I really love it for the beautiful depiction of how love is beyond life. We can love someone beyond our life and can care for our beloved even after we are no more in this world.
Happy Reading!
